Jordan now Aussie
Hello to all my friends at K9.
Sorry it has taken me a few weeks to write to you but mummy and daddy
have only just had time to show me how to use the computer!
I just can't believe how lucky I am and want to tell you all about the
things I have been up to! I live right by the sea and I go for long
walks in the morning and the evening along the beach. Daddy throws me my
favourite ball and I can fetch now. Sometimes he throws it towards the
water and I get a bit scared but my confidence is growing and Mummy says
she will swim with me in the summer!
I have made lots of new doggy friends and often go to play at their
houses and I get to invite them to my house too! Mummy and Daddy had a
sausage sizzle last week and I got lots of fuss from their friends and I
have decided that I love sausages!!!! I almost forgot to tell you about
the tricks I can do now. I can sit, shake both paws, lie down, roll
over, jump up and wait. Mummy has spent lots of time teaching me and I
have worked out that if I do tricks quickly I get to eat more doggy
treats...yummy!
Well I have to go now as Mummy needs to computer but I will write again
soon and send you some photos nex time. Miss all of my doggy friends and
hope they find a nice home like me. Thanks again to the lovely helpers
who made my time a K9 fun and also helped me to find my owners. I am
avery happy dog!
Love, licks and a big paw ...From Aussie ( Jordan) |

Butchie now Rowdy
We adopted Butchie now Rowdy in April 09, one day after we bought our
new home. We have family who previously adopted their dog from k9 rescue
and was an amazing addition to their family.
We had been looking at dogs for adoption for months and finally visited
k9 rescue and came across Butchie. We fell in love with him straight
away. We wanted a large dog as we have a big backyard to facilitate him
and because we prefer big dogs. Rowdy is a great dane X Lab and has a
very big heart and personality and everyone who comes across him cant
help but love his eccentricity.
He's not only a great guard dog but also a great companion. He loves
taking us for walks, balls, toys, big meat bones and lazing around the
house.
Thank you for providing us with an amazing member of the family who will
forever hold a place in our hearts. Ryan, Bronwyn and Rowdy |

Faye now Trixie
Just wanted to let you know how (Faye) , now Trixie is. The story goes,
Last March I had to put my best and adorable friend to sleep, Duke. I'd
had Duke from a pup after he was found in a bag in the pine forests
somewhere. He had been bitten and was very ill with severe dehydration
and a big bite out of his neck. I took him and cared for him, even
taking days off work to take care of him. Duke although very hand shy
and insecure ended up being the most loving , protective and balanced
boy you could ever wish for.
While Duke was still alive at 15 years, with arthritis and dementia, I
got a puppy labredore called Djedah from the RSPCA . They got on really
well and when we lost Duke, the pup sat by his grave for two weeks . One
Sunday I was desperate and looked up the paper, went and saw some dogs
pups but just couldn't feel that special feeling.
At about 12 noon, I saw in the paper K9 Rescue, so looked up the
internet and saw Faye. This is two weeks after MY BOY had gone. I rang
Jo who was pregnant at the time for directions from Kenwick. This was at
1.30pm, no way could I find the place, and there was roadworks to
confuse me, just that little bit more, I kept on calling Jo for
directions and finally, I stopped at some mechanics place, and was given
directions passing the roadworks. It was 38 degrees and I hardly had any
petrol left, nor money for petrol. Djedah was with me only 6 months old
and tired of driving. Something kept me going, I had to get there no
matter what. At 4.45pm, we finely found K9 Rescue, and met Jo and she
took me to see (Faye).
That was that, love at first sight, for Dhedah and for me, and for Faye
too I think. It was just meant to be . Now she sleeps all cuddled up
with me Djedah, Muffin the cat and Rat the cat,at nights.
We adore her, and everything about her. She has turned into a great
companion for all of us, cats dogs and chooks. Such a champ, and whoever
miss treated her has missed out on a very good, loyal friend. Anyway,
thanks to Jo and K9 Rescue , I have a new loyal friend although I still
miss my Duke, it's still a pleasure to help another abused animal and
know that she will gain confidence and is a lovely friend.
Thanks,Bridget, Djedah, Trixie (Faye), Rat, and the three chooks. |

Freeman now Harry
Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks? Harry (previously
Freeman) acquired us at Easter this year (2009) and he is the best. He
was quite neglected and very overweight when we got him, but his wounds
have healed and he is 8kg slimmer and he is now a very fit and healthy
dog with the most beautiful temperament. He goes to dog club every week
and he is doing really well. His level of enthusiasm never fails to
astound me and he is so very clever - whatever you ask of him - he just
gets it. My other dog adores Harry and loves to chew his ears - between
you and me, I don't think Harry minds one bit! Harry's favourite hobby,
other than eating, is going to the beach, river or anywhere he can have
a good run followed by a nice snack and a snooze on the lawn. We
couldn't have asked for a nicer dog and are so lucky to have found him.
Keep up the wonderful work you do.Regards, Karin |

Rogues
We adopted rogues on Thursday 27th Aug & have to say he is a gorgeous
dog, he is great with the kids, good with his food, hardly barks &
really all we wanted in a family pet. He met our friend’s dog at the
weekend & they both ran around the bush for nearly an hour whilst we all
followed drinking coffee! He has settled into our family life just great
& for the first time yesterday I left him whilst I went to work, he
made himself at home on the sofa, has the radio playing in the
background & from what I could make out didn’t move in the time I was
out. He really is a darling & we couldn’t have asked for a better dog,
he is a gentle giant that falls over when you rub his tummy & nudges
your hand when he wants you to fuss him. He is getting spoilt rotten
here so we think he is happy. Hopefully I will be able to send some pics
of him & his friend on their Sunday morning outings running around
together but they are very quick!! Anyway, thanks once again to all &
I'll keep you updated.

Hancock now Ned
I bought my big beautiful boy Ned (previously named Hancock) in
June 2009, I instantly fell completely in love with him from the moment
I saw him in your kennels and he put his paw on my leg! I cannot
understand how someone could have left/dumped such a beautiful dog. From
day one he knew all basic commands, and he has such good manners, he
won’t even eat his dinner until I shake both of his paws with him.
Ned became such a loyal dog to me straight away, he is loving his home
on our property of 27 acres, he helps me feed my horses everyday and
loves it when I walk down to our creek with him, he also loves coming
out on big long horse rides with me.
Ned just loves the beach, he is a real water boy! He runs straight into
the waves, no matter how big or small and even on a cold day I cannot
keep him out of the water!!
It feels like I have had Ned years already, we have covered a lot of
things in the 3 months I have had him. I am so glad I was the very lucky
and fortunate person to get Ned, he is my best friend and is a very
special part of my life and I look forward to many more years with him.
I will bring him in for a visit next time I am in the area.
Thank you so much for taking on and looking after my big beautiful boy
until we found each other. You do such a great job and if it wasn’t for
you guys Ned’s fate may have been different and we may never have been
brought together.
Thankyou again Jade & Ned |

allowing us to adopt Jazz who is now known as Jezzie. After being at the
K9 twice she has now found a family who thinks she is absolutely
wonderful! She loves going for walks and getting lots of cuddles.
She is very well behaved and has made herself right at home as you can
see from the photos.

Larry now Taz
We just wanted to drop you a line to let you know how Larry is
going. We
brought him home about 10 days ago now and we have
renamed him Taz. My son,
Daniel had seen Taz's picture on your website and
after reading his
description was very keen to meet him. We travelled
from Bunbury and quickly
spotted him in the kennel. Daniel was taking Taz for
a walk in the grassed
area, when the shackle on the lead bent sideways and
Taz was free!! The K9
volunteer Elli as well as me and my two children ran
after him calling his
name but he wasn't stopping for anything or anyone.
He made it to the road
where luckily a passing car stopped and opened their
door. Taz jumped
straight in and was promptly brought back to K9.
After that escape we spent
some time in his pen with him and then we adopted him
and travelled back to
Bunbury with him. He is housetrained and knew some
basic commands like sit,
stay and shake hands. My son is looking forward to
teaching him some new
tricks. He is sometimes very active and playful like
when he chases his tail
or throws his own toys for himself but also enjoys
sitting quietly and
having a pat or belly rub. He has settled into his
new home very well, he
sleeps with Daniel on his bed every night and really
is thriving on all the
games and attention he is getting. He has a daily
walk which he really
enjoys(with a very secure shackle) and he loves to
play tug of war and
fetch. He is a very gentle and obedient dog and we
are very glad to have him
in our family. We are planning to adopt a second dog
so Taz will have a
friend to play with. Thank you for looking after him
until we could adopt
him. Kind Regards, Dale, Sonia, Daniel and Sarah.

On the 23/02/09 my family adopted
Ernest, who we have renamed Erniee, not too different. Erniee is
loving this new house and enjoys being around everybody. He loves
his walks in the bush and always love eating. He doesn't like water
but loves to play, he's not a bad soccer player but doesn't bring
the ball back haha. He loves playing with the dog down the
road and loves to tell us he is there. I always see him in the
morning when he jumps up at my window to say hello. He now knows how
to sit, roll ,lay down, shake ,stay and knows the word gentle. He
walks well on the lead and loves to say hello to everyone but if
your not careful he will lick you clean. He likes riding in the car
and boat. He keeps getting bigger and stronger. He loves to eat and
also likes to sleep next to me when I am watching a movie. We will
keep you updated in the future and thankyou. Keep doing a great job,
bye from Sarah, family & Erniee. 11/13/09

Molly
I don't know whether you will remember little Molly.
We adopted her about 1 and 1/2 months ago. Just wanted to let you let
know that she has settled in very happily, put on weight and more or
less rules the roost.
Here she is having a Sunday morning snooze on the end of our bed whilst
we read the papers and have a cup of tea. Must emphasize that she
usually sleeps in her own be all night but is allowed at cup of tea time
in the morning.
She is well behaved and delightful although she hates other dogs.
Many thanks Lynn and Jay Lord |
