K9 SUCCESS STORIES

Jax

My partner Justin & I adopted Jax 4 weeks ago and I thought you might like to know how he's getting on.
You'll be pleased to know that Jax has fitted into our family with so much ease and comfort we feel like we've had him for years! We expected he may take a while to settle in, but he hasn't needed any adjustment time at all. He's so smart, he's toilet trained already and is enjoying going for long walks/ and runs with us around the river and at the beach. Justin is teaching him how to swim and after being a little apprehensive at first (of the waves rather than the water), we found a little place at South Fremantle with no waves, and he runs in to fetch his ball without a care in the world. He's very social with other dogs, loves to play (especially with fluffy, squeaky toys) and is a sucker for cuddles.
Jax's 1st Christmas was full of fun, excitement and presents and he was worn out by the end of the day! In 2009, we have enrolled him in puppy school and hope that we will all learn something useful and continue his training at home.
Finally, we took him to get his booster jab just before Christmas and he is now registered at Victoria Park Veterinary Clinic. The vet was very friendly and helpful and Jax was completely oblivious to the injection!
Thanks for everything. I hope 2009 is a fantastic year for you all.
You do a wonderful job and I hope the dogs who come to you end up with a loving home.
Emma & Justin

Hi,
I keep meaning to email to tell you about our Dog Tasha, we got her from your organization in 1995 her name was Petra because she was petrified of people. She was 6 months old and had a traumatic start to life, it took a few weeks to gain her trust but once she knew she was safe we could not have ever imagined a more loving loyal and protective pet. I was 8 when we got her and she was my best mate, now I'm 21 and she is 14. We had to  have her put to sleep today after a battle with cancer as well as being nearly blind, arthritic and a bit senile (she swears she didn’t get fed) but she could still bark at the horses if they got rowdy all be it from her front row seniors seat on the veranda.
She was always incredibly patient even with my puppy and taught him every bad habit she knew which were not many. She loved the water, peanut butter and long bush walks but wouldn’t chase a ball cause if you throw you go and retrieve it. She will be a sorely missed member of our family and any other pets have a high standard to meet.
Thank you for the opportunity to have had such a great dog. We have family and friends who have dogs from you and they are all fantastic pets. Without your organizations' tireless work these animals wouldn’t have a second chance, keep up the good work.

Regards Taia

Keira

"Keira" as you can see is full of fun and happiness. She has brought so much happiness to Don and I (Vivian). She's a delight and now has a friend. A rough collie who needed a loving home, so they are both part of a very happy pack, including our two cats.
I hope you everyone at K9 enjoys the Festive Season and I hope 2009, brings a lot less K9's to your door. (meant in the nicest possible way!)

Best Wishes Vivian and Don

Adannah now Dana

Just thought we'd drop you a line to let you know how delighted we are with our little girl.
She has just been registered in the City of Joondalup which is now her home and we've shortened her name to Dana.
She loves the beach and the local park (which she visits every day) and chasing a ball. Our back garden is covered with bones, toys with their stuffing pulled out and the odd ball.
She seems to be fit and healthy and hopefully happy with us - we are certainly very happy with her. She does have a little tendency to dig in the garden!  We're dealing with it but any suggestions would be gratefully received.
She doesn't like being left on her own!  We try to keep the time to a minimum!

 Sheena

Hello and season's greetings to everyone at K9 rescue.  We adopted Sheena in September 2008, after she had been in the kennels for about 6 months.

She has settled in to her new home beautifully, which is a small miracle as our 4 year old son has tested her significantly.  Sheena is very well behaved, and loves chasing our son back and forth around the yard.  Her favourite pastime is digging in the vegie patch, where the soil is soft and smelly.
She is healthy, happy and very much loved.  She was registered with a full name including surname, to reflect her status as family member.
Thank you to all your staff, not only for rescuing Sheena and looking after her until we came along, but also for helping us to decide on the right dog for us.
Merry Christmas from
Matt, Kylie, MacLean & Sheena

Shona still shona!
I'm shona, and until two weeks ago I was feeling sad and unwanted after being sent back to the dog rescue twice.

Now I'm living the life of luxury in Warnbro with my new mum and dad, and am loving life once again. I have my own box of toys (most of which I've torn to pieces), two beds outside (I like choice), and a doggy door to allow me to go in and out as I please. I do however like to spend most of my time indoors lazing on the lounge, although I also love it when dad takes me for walks and I love it when we go for rides in the car.
When my mum first came to visit me I was a little overweight, you'll be pleased to know that nothing has changed in that department.
I did get scared the first few times I was left alone by myself however I understand now that mum and dad will always come back and give me plenty of cuddles so I just entertain myself for a little while until they return.
I love my mum and dad!

Becky now Clover

Hi K9 Rescue,
We adopted Becky who we renamed Clover about 2 months ago, and we did say we would send in photo's and updates.
She is now settled in and is part of the family! We were so lucky to have seen her, she came into K9 the day we saw her. But as soon as we took her into the play pen, we fell in love. She sat in between my feet and looked up at me. i just knew she was a keeper. As we're walking Clover people passing tell us how beautiful she is and how lucky I am.
Its all going great and we are so happy we adopted her. She's the best dog ever!

Uzi now BEAU

Hi to all you wonderful people. I promised to send you a photo of our beautiful little dog Uzi, we have given him a new name Beau he is so good, loves his walks and is clean indoors, the only thing is he is a bolter so I am going to take him to training end of this month. Thank you so much for bringing love into our home. His coat is growing; when we saw him he looked like Bob Marley dread locks and all and we fell in love with him strait away ………….. Barbara

Fleta now Mia

We said we would send you an update on Fleta's (now know as Mia) progress so here goes... I know we've only had her a week now but she has settled in so well it seems like shes been here much longer. As you can see from photo with the cat on my husbands lap our concerns as to her getting on OK with him were unfounded, would you believe that photo was taken only a few hours after we bought her home!

CHESTER

A big thank you for introducing us to Chester. We have had Chester for about 18months now and it didn't take long for him to become a very treasured family member. He settled in immediately and was an instant hit with our family and friends. We were nervous when it came time to introduce him to my dad's dog as she is not friendly towards other dogs however she took to Chester like a fish to water and they have been best friends ever since. Chester is a quiet boy and only barks when he feels he absolutely needs to (it's so rare for him to bark that we get excited when it happens) however he still gets our attention when he needs to. He thoroughly enjoys his car rides, his outings in the boat, loves going for walkies and is obsessed with most sporting equipment - especially tennis balls! He has been easy to train, he will lie in the garden at the front while we are washing our cars etc and doesn't need a lead when visiting family.

We are so happy he has become apart of our lives and look forward to many more years to come with him. An extra huge thank you to the K9 volunteer who introduced me to Chester as I wasn't very interested in him during my first visit - we are so happy that she encouraged me to meet Chester, he is just the perfect family member! Attached are a few photos of our boy (one including his special hair cut from the vet). Keep up your amazing work and thank you once again for introducing us to such a wonderful boy! Regards, Rebecca.

Zelda now JAINA

A big huge thank you for allowing us to adopt Zelda (now known as Jaina). We got her as an 8 week old puppy in 2004 as a companion for my youngest son. However we soon discovered she didn't like to stay home alone, or for that matter to ever be out of eye range of someone so now she comes to work every day with me. She gets told a lot by our customers how lucky she is to go to work every day, and we get told how lucky we are also to be able to take her to work each day. She is a very affectionate, loving dog and she loves to 'talk' especially if she brings you the ball and you don't throw it for her!... Dianne, Benoit Brad & Dan

Charity now Princess Moxy
Just wanted to let you know that Charity is settling in well. Her name’s now Princess Moxy (yes, the kids got to name her). She is doing very well so far, learning ‘sit’, ‘leave it’ and ‘down’. She’s also getting the hang of only going to the toilet outside... slowly.
Milo is being very patient with her, and they follow each other around. When she’s crated, he lays on the couch next to her (we’re trying to give him some time out without a puppy in his face for a bit each day).
She’s great with the girls, although she is very jumpy and can’t contain herself sometimes, flying into their laps from across the room especially if they have food, but we’re working on that and they’ve learnt to check she’s outside or crated before sitting down with a snack to watch TV. As she’s so skinny, she’s been getting cold in the evenings outside with us, so we’re going to get her a little coat to feel more comfortable.
Anyway, just wanted to say thank you for your help with her – it’s only been a couple of days and already we can’t imagine being without her!

Emma, Mark, the kids and Milo

RADHA now ASHA

In April this year my family and I adopted Radha, who we have renamed Asha.  She has settled in very well and we managed to fatten her up to a healthy 43kgs now, from 36.5 kgs when we got her, she is really leading the doggy life, sleeping on the sofa and with full access to the house and bedrooms, she really is the queen of her castle!!  She has even been very graceful in allowing us to have foster dogs, and is very welcoming to them when they arrive. (we foster dogs from SAFE when needed).

ABBOTT now WAGS

We adopted Abbott 19/9/2008, we changed his name to Wags because he has a very waggy tail.

Wags is a wonderful pooch and has fitted in to our home easily, he is now microchiped and fully vaccinated, tagged and registered with the council so you shouldn't see him again. He is also starting adolescent training classes this Saturday, I think it is us that need the training more than him.
Wags loves children, and having pats and cuddles and going for walks, he would much rather eat what we eat than dog food, he learns very quickly a smart Pooch. He doesn't like to be left home alone, luckily this doesn't need to happen too often. Wags now likes his beds in our bedroom and lounge but would rather sleep with us on ours, we are greeted with sloppy kisses as soon as we wake. He has eased the pain of losing our loved Russell and is most probably better with our 4 year old than Russell was. He also loves to snuggle on our laps every chance he gets, it gets squeezy some times with child and pooch together.
It was much easier to settle him in to our family than to start with a puppy, at 59 I didn't want to do that,
Thank you for giving us the chance to adopt him, we will look after him.

Bobby now Rocket (Rocky)

Peter and I adopted Bobby on Saturday 1st Nov. and already we couldn't imagine our life without him!
We just wanted to send you a HUGE thank you for all your efforts and to know that it is very much appreciated! Your volunteers were so lovely and friendly and the area the dogs were staying was really well kept.
Hope you don't mind but we noticed on the first day he came home what a pocket Rocket he was (in between bouts of sleeping heehee) and decided to rename him; Rocket 'Rocky' for short :) He really has been such a good boy, and learns so quickly!

Rocky is a gorgeous dog and has had a great start in life thanks to your care and effort! We will keep you up to date with his future progress :)
Thanks again!!

Carla now Karma
I was Carla but I am now Karma because I have bought good karma to my new family who had been grieving the loss of their beloved shepard Scout.  I  am so like Scout in that I love affection & a good rub & have a beautiful nature.  They think I might have a bit of Egyptian in me because I build enormous pyramids in the back lawn &  I love to excavate.  I have stopped whining constantly when they leave me because I know they will eventually return & take me for long walks on the beach & let me sleep at the foot of their bed in the morning.  I am learning how to play with balls & toys. I now get yummy food twice a day & have put on a few kilos so I am now no longer an anorexic model.  Thank you to all the lovely people at K9 rescue who rescued me from the pound & gave me a second chance.  My new family love me to bits & have given me grandchildren & more dogs to play with.

Kiss Kiss,
Karma
PS I still suffer from flatulence big time.....

Hi, haven't been in touch before but attached a couple of pics of Khumo adopted 21/05/05 and Ellie, (K9 name Lady) adopted 28/01/06. Best dogs ever - keep up the great work.
